Pokémon Go Fest 2022 hit with a bang yesterday as trainers the world over compete for new and extraordinary Pokémon as well as letting the battles intensify to fight it out to be the world’s best trainer!
Yesterday we saw a range of newer Pokémon, mainly from the newer regions such as Johnn and Hanto (we totally spelt those wrong!) and encountered new Pokémon such as Gothita – which we managed to catch with one lousy throw after some ‘berry’ encouragement. It was ‘berry’ exciting – see what we did there?
Pokémon Go Fest 2022 promises more in the second day with developers Niantic promising over 70 different Pokémon featuring during the Pokémon Go Fest this year.
Tickets for the event are going for $14.99 on the official shop and promise:
- Increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon
- Bonuses in the Global Arena Challenge
Whether you decide to take the ticketed-plunge or not, there is still a lot for all trainers to get involved in including:
- Rotating habitat hours where themed confetti appears on the map to let you know it’s happening (it might also appear with some random snow despite the sunny weather too!)
- Shiny Pokémon – in a world exclusive the first encounters with Shiny Axew, Shiny Shroomish, Shiny Numel, Shiny Karrablast and Shiny Shelmet will happen this weekend – but only if you’ve got fortune shining on you. Keep an eye out and let us know in the comments if you encounter them!
The four collection challenges to feature this weekend include:
- City
- Plains
- Rainforest
- Tundra

What’s new on Day 2?
Keep your eyes peeled for a special research story – and even more rewards! Participation also opens for the Global Challenge Arena today so make sure you don’t miss out?
Battles Galore!
If we’ve whet your appetite and you can’t wait to join in, have a look below at some of the amazing battles we’ve had on Pokémon Go Fest 2022 Day 1!
But Don’t Battle Too Hard!
Even though your Pokémon recover straight after battle, don’t over-swipe lest you want to end up accidentally ‘rage quitting’ the battle!
Remember, slow and steady wins the race!
Day 1 Battle Round Up
Not too shabby whilst we were waiting for our incense to do its magic!
Gotta Catch ‘Em All
And of course, where we be without our catches of the day. Feast your eyes on some of the beautiful and powerful Pokémon available!
First up, Grimer:
And our favourite catch of the day, welcome Gothita!
We’ve left the best till last!
And in terms of battles, the award for the best unexpected performance from a Pokémon has to go to the one and only Roselia!
Just look at how she taunts in battle, so much so that the opponent forgets to attack! Not once, but every time! Roselia’s Sludge Bomb becomes the most powerful attack of Pokémon Go Fest 2022. Will things change on Day 2 though?
Stay tuned for what is to be an exciting Day 2 we’re sure in Pokémon Go Fest 2022!
