Our video tutorial this weekend explains how you can show hidden folders (as well as files and drives) in Windows.
Why would I want to see them?
Usually, you don’t miss not seeing hidden folders and files but there may be times when you need to access them. For example, maybe you are modding your favourite game and it needs you to drop the mod into a folder. You browse to the games folder and the folder is missing! Panic sets in and you wonder whether you’re game is corrupted. Fear not, in all likelihood the folder you have to access doesn’t usually need any customisation so the developers have likely hidden it. In this case, you’ll want to show hidden folders.
Where is it?
In the olden days, changing this option used to be quite intuitive. You’d head over to Control Panel (I’m that old, yes!) and click on ‘Folder Options’. After all, that’s where you’d expect it, right! Well, in a bid to become more intuitive Windows have now hidden it away in a secret developer section. But fear not, it’s easy to find when you know what you’re looking for.
