Now, you might be thinking – why do I have to manually update Windows? I’ve got auto-updates set – that’s taken care of. Right?
Answer – mostly. Unfortunately some of the big feature updates do require some manual intervention and may well just sit there until you decide to visit the Windows Update console and take some affirmative action. Don’t worry, security updates and anti-virus definitions updates for Windows Defender should auto-stream down and get installed but for the big updates giving the extra toys, you’ll probably have to put in a bit of effort (or wait an awful long time).
It’s also a good idea to check just in case there’s been any issues with auto-update – for example, it’s not run because the computer hasn’t been on, there hasn’t been an Internet connection (maybe you changed your wifi password) or maybe there’s not enough disk space remaining (those games take up an awful lot of storage!).
Whatever it is, it’s a good idea to check on a semi-regular basis, so watch the video below to learn how!
