Twitter seems to be having difficulty at the moment as many of the websites members cannot log on to or even view the Twitter website. The reason for the current outage is unknown. An error page is being displayed on the Twitter website, however it is very nondescript, as you will see from the image below:
For the non-programmers among our readers <% = reason %> is a programming placeholder which should contain the reason for Twitter being down and <%= deadline %> is a place holder where the ETC (estimated time to completion) for the repairs should be.
There hasn’t been any indication thus far from Twitter as to the nature of the issue that they are facing. The style sheets for the Twitter website also appear to be failing to even display the proper styling for the error page.
We can quite safely assume that the downtime is unexpected. We will obviously keep you updated on the situation.
“An information network
Twitter is a real-time information network that connects you to the latest stories, ideas, opinions and news about what you find interesting. Simply find the accounts you find most compelling and follow the conversations.
At the heart of Twitter are small bursts of information called Tweets. Each Tweet is 140 characters long, but don’t let the small size fool you—you can discover a lot in a little space. You can see photos, videos and conversations directly in Tweets to get the whole story at a glance, and all in one place. See it in action.”
EDIT: Twitter appears to be coming back online for a lot of users now, although it is apparently still unavailable for some users. Seems like the Twitter technical team have been fast to respond to the situation. Thumbs up :).

Maybe Twitter being down will give people to calm down and think to themselves for a little. Noisy world.
(I love Twitter though ;-))
Haha, I'm not sure how many people will like that idea ;).
