Britains Ripped Off With New Amazon Kindle Device

[adrotate banner=”45″]

AmazonThe Amazon Kindle book reader, priced at a mere £200 a piece, costs more than might first meet the eye.  The reason for this?  British users pay around 40% more for downloaded books than their American counterparts.  Indeed anyone outside of the US will face paying around £8.75 per book compared to the original £6.25 equivilent paid in the US.

This comes as a surprise as Amazon earlier in the week, when the new device was launched, denied that users outside the US would have to pay more but they have since admitted that this is not the case and retract their earlier statement.

The additional costs incurred outside the US are blamed on “higher operating costs” that are incurred with providing the books outside of the States.

Original reports from Amazon said “there are no additional fees for International customers”.

You can read more about the reasoning behind the additional costs and more information about the Kindle device here.
