Britains broadband, although rated good enough for todays uses, is “not fit for the future” and is lagging behind many of our European neighbours.
The main difference between Britain and countries that are seen as to be “ready for the future” is that Britains broadband network relies heavily on the network of copper phone wires whereas countries that are deemed ahead of us are using mainly fibre optic wires – which are a lot faster.

You might be right there...I'm on a crap 2Mb ADSL connection with BT, and Cable is not available in our street/area.
Thats the problem. Cable, when I've used it in the past, has been the best with both good stability on speed. Its just a pity it isn't more widespread but hopefully things will change over the coming years.
I sure want my street to be upgraded as we have a max 5MB/s connection speed possible at the moment!
