Security Researcher Shown The Door By Twitter

TwitterMikko H. Hyppönen, a researcher for F-secure, an antivirus company, was sensationally booted off Twitter after trying to warn its users about a malware threat.

Twitter, in characteristically slow fashion, only showed the door to Mr Hyppönen 2 months after his alleged violation of the sites terms.

He categorically denied trying to mislead users into visiting the malware site which was one of the many fraudlent websites purporting to be the popular social networking site MySpace.  He stated that he even put spaces in the link so that it didn’t auto link to prevent users from even accidently visiting the website.

Twitters private response to the security researcher was brief – “I’ve unsuspended your account. … Be careful!”
